Yesterday YouTuber and speedrunner MitChriz beat elden ring in just 12 minutes and 32 seconds, seemingly setting a new record in the “any% unrestricted” Speedrunning category for the game.

To pull this off, you’ve probably already guessed that some shenanigans and tricks happened in the run. And you would be right. WithChriz needed one elden ring Speedrunning trick called “zipping” to essentially teleport around the world. This saves a lot of time compared to running everywhere or even using your trusty double-jumping horse.

Using this trick, MitChriz was able to bypass the Limgrave section of the game and then head straight to Liurnia where they use a now-accessible through gate to gain access to a late-game area. They then use the zipping trick to skip all but one boss, reaching the final boss in record time. Using the zip trick, they skip that boss fight as well, completing the game in less than 13 minutes.

And here’s how I remember last month thinking about hitting elden ring in 37 minutes was fast.

You may be wondering: wait… what is zipping? Well, it’s a speed running technique This has recently become increasingly popular with runners who are focused on breaking new records on the run any% unrestricted category for elden ring. In this particular speedrunning category, players don’t have to complete all the steps, get all the runes, or do anything else normally required to advance in the game. The main goal in this type of runs is to just get to the end and get to the credits as quickly as possible, using all sorts of methods and tricks.

And further in the Unrestricted category really wild and tricky methods like zipping—which required a beefy one personal computerare allowed.

BBefore anyone gets mad at MitChriz for using glitches or tricks to beat the game, remember that this is just one type of speedRunning category that exists for elden ring and that other players out there set times for runs where each boss is beaten or never suffer damageEtc.

I’m now waiting for someone to hit elden ring in less than 10 minutes.
