This is what we can do now to automate our office

automate, office

One of the new features of the update to version 12.0 of Pages, Numbers and Keynote on Mac, iPad and iPhone is the ability to use automations and shortcut actions to interact with documents. A detail that may seem minor, but that facilitates certain recurring procedures and makes them much more comfortable, remember, among other things, that it is thanks to the shortcuts that we can open any application on our Mac using a keyboard shortcut.

New automations and hopefully more to come

The actions available to us vary slightly from app to app. In Pages, for example, we can open a document and create a new one. In Numbers, in addition to opening and creating documents, we can add a new row with data at the bottom or top of a table. Finally, in Keynote, the available actions allow us to open and create presentations and also open them in trial mode or presentation mode.

All these actions are available on Mac and iPhone or iPad and we will find them in the Shortcuts application after updating Pages, Numbers and Keynote to version 12.0. From there, we can use them in our workflows just like we would any shortcut or automation.

One of the most interesting actions, especially because of the potential it has in shortcuts, is to add information to the Numbers tables. Through automation, we could, for example, record daily temperaturethe battery percentage of our Mac or note the hours of the day in which we have reached a certain goal.

Note that while version 12.0 introduces support for shortcuts in iWork apps, expect future updates add actions and possibilities. No doubt good news to be able to automate our office tasks
