The day before yesterday, Ubisoft announced that it would no longer develop any new content for Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Still, fans of the franchise might have reason to be excited, as a new report says a next title is already in the works.
If a new rumor is to be believed, Ghost Recon fans won’t have to wait too long for new content after Ubisoft announced the cessation of related development work related to Ghost Recon Breakpoint the day before yesterday. According to a report by the usually well-informed colleagues at Kotaku
Kotaku relies on its own sources, according to which the next Ghost Recon has been in the works for more than a year. Internally, the title therefore has the working title “Project Over”, which was also included as such in the large NVIDIA leak via GeForce NOW in September 2021. At the time, other Ubisoft titles that were said to be in the works were also mentioned that have not yet been officially confirmed, including a new The Crew and a large DLC for Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. In the meantime, some of the leaked titles have also turned out to actually exist, so it should probably also look good with regard to the new Ghost Recon.
Project Over would be an additional Ghost Recon title alongside the officially confirmed Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Frontline. The latter is a free-to-play Battle Royale spin-off, but it wasn’t really well received by the community and was given dislikes. One of the reasons was thought to be that fans would rather have a classic Ghost Recon – and one could be on the way now as well.
It is to be hoped that the title will then be able to tie in with earlier offshoots of the series, because the last two titles Wildlands and Breakpoint received rather negative reviews and were not as well received in the community as, for example, Advanced Warfighter, which was considered the best game of the long-standing series action series applies.
In addition, the criticism of Breakpoint was also great because Ubisoft piloted the controversial NFT program Quatz here. This was also officially discontinued this week, with Ubisoft thanking the buyers and reaffirming that they want to use NFTs in future games as well.
