Around 150 new games appear on Steam every week So it’s no wonder that we can’t report on every single title. But especially in times when no big blockbusters are released, small insider tips can be worth their weight in gold.
We’ve dug through all the releases of the past week for you and picked out five new Steam games that might be worth a look for you.
Road maintenance simulator

Genre: Simulation | developer: Caipirinha Games | Price: 25 Euro
It’s that time again: The Europe publisher Aerosoft has added another simulator to its portfolio. In the road maintenance simulator you become an employee of the road maintenance service and take care of maintaining a functioning road network.
You put up delineators at the side of the road, remove and replace dented crash barriers and trim trees at the edge of the road. In the later missions you can even mend roads with tar machines and steamrollers. Thanks to Unreal Engine, the whole thing also looks pretty nice, especially the grass is impressive.

Forgive Me Father – First gameplay from the retro shooter
Genre: Shooter | developer: Byte Barrel | Price: 20 Euro
Retro shooters in the style of Doom and Duke Nukem 3D are currently back in fashion. Last week we introduced you to Nightmare Reaper in this format, this week we have a similar title called Forgive Me Father.
In a world inspired by Lovecraftian horror, you are the last survivor not yet completely succumbed to the madness of the old gods. In search of answers, you shoot your way through tons of occult creatures, spooky cultists and powerful boss monsters – in a very stylish comic look. A dream for all shotgun fans.

Janitor Bleeds

Genre: Horror | developer: Korpus | Price: 13 Euro
The horror game Janitor Bleeds is also spooky: After a car accident, you seek refuge in an old, abandoned arcade. But instead of help, here you will only find an old slot machine with the game Janitor, the gameplay of which mysteriously affects the real world.
Unlike other retro-inspired horror games, in Janitor Bleeds you not only have to solve puzzles and hide from an overpowering enemy, you can even fight later in the game. The Finnish developers have definitely created an exciting little horror trip here, which is particularly convincing with its dense atmosphere.

Stacklands

Genre: construction game | developer: Sokpop | Price: 4 Euro
Development game with a difference: In Stacklands you build a village, collect food and fight attacking monsters. The clou: Everything runs, similar to the Cultist Simulator, in the form of a tabletop card game.
You start with a booster pack containing five cards. If you now connect the villager card with the berry bush card, you get food. You can also mine wood and stones by connecting the villager to trees or rocks. The resources can then be combined to form increasingly complex recipes.

Screeps: Arena

Genre: Coding / Real-time strategy | developer: Screeps LLC | Price: 17 Euro
You happen to be a programmer and want to measure yourself against other IT professionals? Then Screeps: Arena could be the right pastime for you. The special feature: Instead of controlling the units yourself as in a normal real-time strategy game, you write the artificial intelligence of your units in real JavaScript.
Of course, you have to consider everything that applies in other real-time strategy games: Workers have to collect resources and build buildings, combat units have to be used skillfully in battles. The gameplay loop of designing strategies, coding and debugging them, and then testing them against other players sounds challenging but engaging.
