As you know, in iGamesNews we are celebrating the arrival of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 as a sequel to the first in theaters. It has already been released and today we get interesting details about the film.
Sonic The Hedgehog 2
These are specifically statements by the director Jeff Fowler about the personality they decided to give to Knuckles in the film. Why is he so serious?
This is how he explained it to the media Polygon:
I think it was really important that the movie and the story take it seriously and [Knuckles] he has certainly been played as a joker character normally. So while we love that idea, I just wanted to double down on the threats we [Sonic] it faces. Obviously, Robotnik is always there, and he will always be a challenge for [Sonic] and that is his true archenemy. But we wanted to introduce another problem for Sonic and bring Knuckles into play, and make him a very formidable opponent.
Sonic loses most of the fights against Knuckles in the movie: [Sonic] You don’t win any, do you? And that’s because Knuckles has spent his entire life training for this mission and this purpose. He has this legacy. He is the last of the echidnas and his whole purpose is to honor the legacy of the tribe and do what they could not accomplish. So it was all very dramatic. And it fit really well that a Sonic movie actually treated Knuckles with a lot of respect and just made him a serious character.
