iMovie wasn’t the only video editing app to get an upgrade. Apple also released the Final Cut Pro version 10.6.2 for all professionals, plus new versions of its Motion and Compressor companion apps. Updates should appear as available in the Mac App Store.

Duplicate clip detection and voice isolation without you having to do anything

The main novelty of this new version of Final Cut Pro is the duplicate detection, something that can happen multiple times when editing videos with lots of cuts. Final Cut is now able to detect video clips you’ve used twice in your project, flagging them for you to notice.

Final Cut Pro also brings as a novelty the speech isolation using machine learning. Thanks to it, the application is able to eliminate ambient noise from a video in which someone is speaking and to highlight their voice above all else.

Apple also claims to have optimized Final Cut Pro for work best with M1 Ultra chip, although there are already those who have detected some roughness to polish. Max Tech has a video from which it shows a reference where Final Cut Pro 10.6.2 degraded its performance slightly, although this could easily be fixed with an additional patch:

So You Can Remove Objects From Your Photos With These Five iPhone Apps

The Final Cut Pro update is free for anyone who purchased a Final Cut Pro license through the Mac App Store. The price of this license is $299.99, in the form of a one-time payment. It’s curious, but in Apple’s professional applications, the fashion for subscriptions has not yet been noticed. And frankly, I’d rather that didn’t change.
