The Chinese hardware manufacturer Xiaomi is best known for its smartphones. However, the tech giant has many other products such as televisions, vacuum cleaners, toothbrushes and more in its range.

One of them caught our eye (via Video games) because it comes with unusual specs. This is about that Xiaomi Walkie-Talkie 3, which according to the manufacturer can serve a range of 5,000 kilometers. To put it in context: from Dublin in Ireland to Ankara in Turkey it is just over 4,000 kilometers by car and ferry.

Other walkie-talkies usually have a range of 10 to 50 kilometers, which is significantly less than that of the new Xiaomi device. In addition, there are some modern functions such as Bluetooth that are not known from classic walkie-talkies.

In order to enable the extremely long range, the Chinese manufacturer uses a trick, if you will. Because with the Walkie-Talkie 3 you can transmit in the 4G network.

The small communication device uses a nanoSIM card for 4G functionality. You can use it to talk to other walkie-talkies and even start group calls.

The battery offers 3,000 mAh, which according to the manufacturer leads to a running time of 60 hours in operation and up to 100 hours in standby. The price is also a lot cheaper than most smartphones: The Walkie-Talkie 3 costs 399 yuan, which corresponds to around 60 dollars.

At the moment it is only available in Xiaomi’s Chinese shop and we don’t know if it will come to Europey. With the manufacturer’s high-end cell phones, things are different. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra could even come earlier than expected in this country. You can find all the details here:
