With an Android 13 that will show its features and new features during the Google I/O to be held in May, we already know the internal official codename of Android 14. And yes, there’s still a year to go before those developer releases arrive and more. The funny thing is that Google always bets on the names of desserts.
‘UpsideDownCake’ for Android 14
As always, Google has used all sorts of candy and dessert names for every major Android release. Everything changed when he decided to put a number, so now Android 12 is present on many mobiles, Android 13 just around the corner and Android 14 for 2023.
Via 9to5Google, we know that internally, in a new code added in android open source project, Google has revealed the internal codename for what would have been Android U. It’s Upside Down Cake and it again refers to a dessert. In fact, in the code added to AOSP, it appears as “UpsideDownCake”.
Now it refers to a kind of cake in which the decorations are placed at the bottom and the base paste poured on top. It goes into the oven to turn it over and so the rest of the toppings are placed to finally have the cake that way.
The reason the big G used this cake is because that starts with the letter U, and it seems that it was not easy to come up with a name for a dessert. A curiosity to clarify that Google started with the development of Android 14 when we had the Developer Previews.
