It is protected by a waterproof and dustproof woven layer. And underneath the fabric is another protective layer of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) material.

Of the 19 wires inside, there are 5 tinned copper wires used for power. Most cables are silver and pure copper plated and two of the cables are covered in white plastic and are used for USB 2.0 transmission.
