The canal ChargerLAB completely disassembled Apple’s Thunderbolt 4 Pro cable for show us all the tech it keeps inside. Apple’s accessory is a coaxial cable with up to 19 wires inside. It is protected by a waterproof and dustproof woven layer. And underneath the fabric is another protective layer of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) material.
Of the 19 wires inside, there are 5 tinned copper wires used for power. Most cables are silver and pure copper plated and two of the cables are covered in white plastic and are used for USB 2.0 transmission.
As for the connectors, they are protected by hard black plastic and a brass sleeve, and inside we have various components and chips. One of the most important is the Intel chip that manages the Thunderbolt connection and “acts as a signal reconstructor to reduce signal fluctuation”. Each connector has 24 pins and all are stoned with gold.
