That Microsoft was preparing for us an update for HDR and Windows 11’s performance is no surprise. If you follow the Xbox Generation, you should have known about it for a long time. The thing is, this update took most of us by surprise.
Those in Redmond prepared a battery upgrades for your operating system and most of them are related to the inclusion of options in the Xbox Game Bar in Windows version 11. We know many of them will come to Windows 10, but for now they will have to wait.
What’s New for Auto HDR in Game Bar
Now we can freely change the intensity of the brightness and sharpness of our games without leaving them, directly in the Windows Xbox Game Bar. This part affects the automatic HDR that Americans have included in Windows and allows us to gain strength in those games with dark colors and brightness. You just have to choose the corresponding widget, open it with Windows + G and choose “Adjust HDR intensity”, nothing more.
Important nuance that this function this only affects auto HDR in games, not those that have this implemented natively. The good thing about this is that each game will save its own independent settings.
The Xbox team has also included a checkbox in the game bar so you can choose whether or not you want auto HDR to load in a given game, giving the user freedom.
Custom notifications and more compatibility
The Xbox on Windows team has also been working to add support for more GPUs to the market.
Over the past year, we have added automatic HDR support for multi-distensive GPU configurations such as Nvidia’s Scalable Link Interface (SLI) and AMD’s CrossFire in DirectX12 games. In other words, if you have a setup that takes advantage of multiple GPUs, you can now use Auto HDR in more games.
Finally, the Xbox development team has also allowed the user to choose which games are notified and which notifications are displayed in Windows 11 when HDR is enabled.
