Since its launch in February 2017, Koei Tecmo's soul-style samurai machete Nioh has sold 3 million units.
Games originally exclusive to PlayStation were also supported in the PC version of November 2017. Between the two, counting the number of copies sent to stores and directly sold to customers online, Nioh has now distributed more than 3 million copies worldwide. The 3rd birthday of the game was yesterday.
Koei Tecmo celebrated the news with Twitter, including some special artworks.

This milestone is of course important because Nioh 2 is about to launch for more than a month. In fact, we played this game a while ago and released an in-depth Nioh 2 hands-on preview last week, detailing how the sequel is not only similar to the Souls game from FromSoftware, but also introduces the "push" battle of Doom 2016, but Use blades to encourage players to take a more aggressive stance in battle.
The sequel will be different in many ways, including unpinning the protagonist William, and this time allowing players to create the protagonist themselves. "Players around the world can customize their characters to make them look like themselves when they like or dislike them, or jump into the story themselves and enjoy the game," Yosuke Hayashi, president of the Ninja Team, told VG247. The character creator is one of many examples from Nioh 2 that directly feeds player feedback on the first game to the second game.
Nioh 2 will be released on March 13th for more than a month. Now, if you don't plan to try it, you can often buy and sell 3 million originals at a premium of 30% off.
