Apple is the only smartphone brand to grow in sales in 2022, no one has sold more than last year.
Apple has already revealed that the iPhone 13 is selling very well, and now market analysts are not only confirming this, but also indicating that the global market is in the doldrums. All major smartphone brands saw sales drop in early 2022everything less apple and his iPhone.
According to information from Canalys, Apple and iPhone saw 8% growth in the first quarter of 2022 if we compare sales with the same quarter last year. Yes Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and virtually all smartphone manufacturers sold significantly less this trimester.
The iPhone triumphs in a market down 11%
We are living in a delicate moment for the lack of supply of many materialswhich likely drives the results most brands reaped, giving Apple’s results even more credit.
According to the numbers, Apple sold 56.5 million iPhones in the first three of 2022which represents an 8% growth from the 52.4 million it sold at the start of 2021. This means that Apple currently has an 18% market share and is the second best-selling smartphone.
The first in the ranking is Samsung, which sold 73.7 million smartphones in the first three months, down 4% than a year ago. In third place we have Xiaomi, with a total of 39.2 million smartphones sold, 10 million less than a year ago. OPPO and vivo are positioned in fourth and third position, lowering their sales by about 30%.
Apple combined strong demand for the iPhone 13 series with a new iPhone SE, driving strong growth of 8% and 56.5 million units shipped.
The global smartphone market fell by 11% in this first quarter, which is a very important fact. What Apple and the iPhone are up 8% in a market that falls by 11% has a lot of merit. Samsung seems to be handling the pressure well, probably thanks to the launch of its Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Ultra.
We have already seen analyzes of Strategic analysis, Canalys and IDC on smartphone sales over the last quarter. Not all offer exactly the same numbers and estimates, but in all three reports Apple is the only manufacturer to have seen sales growth in the last trimester.
