Fallout 76’s newest event features the return of UFO-bearing aliens arriving in Appalachia as random encounters to replace the bugged Meat Week event.
While Fallout 76 was met with significant controversy upon its release in 2018, Bethesda has remained steadfast in its support of the game in the years since. Fallout 76 has seen consistent updates over the last three and a half years adding new content with Bethesda recently partnering with Rust developer Double Eleven for future content coming to the game. Now, the game’s newest event will feature the return of a fan-favorite item from previous Fallout games for a limited time.
Fallout 76’s constant updates have added a significant amount of content to the game initially criticized for a lack of things to do and a lack of the franchise’s traditional NPCs. The massive Fallout Worlds update released last summer added customizable servers to the game for the first time, giving players free rein to change important aspects of their own personal worlds, like jump height, fast travel removal, and even infinite ammo. . Now, Fallout 76 has officially announced the arrival of aliens in the game world of Appalachia, a popular side story in previous Fallout games, with new enemies and cosmetic items.
Bethesda officially announced the arrival of alien spaceships in Appalachia via the official Fallout Twitter account and the event began shortly after publication. From the start of the event until May 10, players will be able to find UFOs roaming the wild as random encounters. The introduction of the aliens replaces the ongoing Meat Week with Fallout 76 shelving the event after being plagued by various player complaints about a lack of event rewards.
Grahm and Chally have been stingy giving out Meat Week rewards! They’ve decided to pack up and host their party another time.
On a completely unrelated note, we’ve just received reports that Alien ships are coming to Appalachia! *

The return of aliens to the latest Fallout game has been teased since last year with Bethesda revealing in a content roadmap that the game would feature the return of aliens to the franchise. Aliens have featured heavily in previous Fallout games with a random event allowing Fallout 4 players to acquire an alien blaster pistol and Fallout 3 even features an event where the player is abducted by aliens and taken aboard the Zetan mothership. Fallout 76 even already contains references to aliens with an alien blaster pistol that can be found in the game.
According to recent reports from Bethesda, Fallout 76’s new alien event is just the beginning of a long line of content to be added to the game in the coming years. The Fallout 76 2022 roadmap confirmed that Bethesda already has a 5-year plan for Fallout 76 with much of the game’s content through 2025 already planned. With 2022 already set to add new locations like The Pitt from Fallout 3 and the highly anticipated return of Nuka-World scheduled for later this year, Fallout 76 will be looking to continue its positive upward trend and silence the game’s many critics.
Fallout 76 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
