If you want to take a screenshot in Windows 10, you can use the “Cut and Sketch” tool. At least so far, because the tool doesn’t seem to be working properly for a few weeks now. Microsoft has now recognized this in a support document.
The problem manifests itself especially when you try to use the tool with the key combination Windows-Taste + Shift + S to open. The program does not respond and crashes immediately. No bugfix has been released yet. As WindowsLatest reported, the bug has been appearing since the release of the February monthly Patchday update.
So you can still take screenshots
sea Microsoft-Support only Windows 10 is affected, so the version that has been completely renewed for Windows 11 works. Microsoft is currently working on a solution to the problem. Until then, you can manually open and use the Snip and Sketch tool from the Start menu.
Alternatively, Windows 10 offers other ways to create screenshots. For example, you can use the print key on your keyboard. This captures the current screen content and saves it to the clipboard. You then have to import and save this recording with an image editing program such as Photoshop or GIMP.
