The discounter Aldi has been selling gaming computers for decades. The devices used to be the epitome of cheap computers, but the Aldi PCs have long since discarded this image.
The machines come from Medion and are actually almost always worth recommending. But what about the current offers in the online shop? There you will find the Medion Erazer Engineer P10 with Intel Core i5 11400 and Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 Ti for 1,300 dollars and the Medion Erazer Engineer X20 with Intel Core i7 12700K and Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 for 2,000 dollars. Are the offers good too?
Graphics cards 2022 in comparison
Over 50 GPUs in the large performance ranking
To clarify the question, let’s take a look at the individual components and use the price comparison portal Geizhals.de to check whether we could assemble the complete calculator ourselves more cheaply:
Medion Erazer Engineer P10
- Mainboard: unknown – approx. 100 dollars
- Processor: Intel Core i5 11400 – ca. 170 Euro
- Graphic card: Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 Ti LHR – ca. 630 Euro
- Random access memory: 16 GB DDR4-2933 – ca. 75 Euro
- Power adapter: unknown – approx. 75 dollars
- M.2-SSD: 1 TB – approx. 75 Euros
- HDD: 2 TB – approx. 45 dollars
- Housing: In Win 303 – ca. 110 Euro
- Mouse and keyboard: that. 50 Euros
- Operating system: Windows 11 Home – ca. 20 Euro
In total, we come to 1,350 dollars. However, this does not include any shipping costs or assembly, while the Aldi PC comes to you fully assembled and including shipping for 1,300 dollars. So the offer is really good and will last until June 5, 2022 or while stocks last.
What can you expect in terms of performance?
Since its release at the end of 2020, the Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 Ti has been one of the best graphics cards for gaming in Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels). There are more powerful models from Nvidia and AMD in the form of the RTX 3070 and RX 6700 XT respectively and beyond. However, they are designed more for gaming in WQHD/QHD (2560×1440 pixels) and higher.
The Intel Core i5 11400 with six cores and twelve threads with a clock rate of 2.6 to 4.4 GHz also provides more than enough performance for Full HD. Six cores are enough for normal users in most application scenarios, even in times of up to 16 cores and 32 threads (Ryzen 9 5950X).

In total, we come to 1,935 dollars. In contrast to the Aldi calculator (2,000 dollars), shipping costs and installation are not included. The offer is ok, although not quite as good as the Erazer P10 in terms of price. It is valid until June 5, 2022 or while stocks last.
What can you expect in terms of performance?
According to the GameStar test, the Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 is around twelve percent faster than the RTX 3060 Ti. It is best suited for gaming in WQHD/QHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels).
With eight performance and four efficiency cores and a clock rate of up to 5.0 GHz, the Intel Core i7 12700K is a noticeable upgrade compared to the Core i5 11400 – at least as far as everyday work is concerned. Here you benefit from more cores, for example when rendering videos or if you use a particularly large number of programs at the same time. When playing, however, the advantages are limited.
However, there is no buy recommendation
Although both Aldi calculators offer a lot for their money and you can hardly assemble them yourself cheaper, we advise against buying them. Because before the end of this year we are expecting new graphics card generations from Nvidia and AMD with the RTX 4000 and RX 7000. New processors should also appear towards the end of the year. It can be assumed that you will then simply get more performance for the same money than you do now – or the same performance for less money.

Will there be graphics cards again soon at RRP?
Of course, this is different if you absolutely need a completely new PC now. Then the two offers are definitely worth considering.
What do you think of the two offers? Are they worth it, or is it generally better to wait when new generations of graphics cards and processors are so imminent? Write it to us in the comments!
