Although Android was not originally created by Google, it's not hard to say that part of the success of the program is due to the great work of Google and all of the developers involved in the growth of the program.

In the last hours we came to know the exciting story of Tim Bray currently employed by Amazon but who has also spent a few years at Google and previously at Sun Microsystems, the company responsible for creating Java, the world's largest language for Android application creation.
On his private website, Tim recounted his final years at Sun Microsystems, before it was purchased by Oracle. At the time, Java-based mobile apps were using Java ME (Micro Edition, Java standard) and so getting an app like Android that used the same Java when the computers were amazing.
After leaving the Sun he had a chat on Google, where he met Vic Gundotra, the man who claimed to be in charge of Google+. In a conversation with the manager, Tim asked the first direct question.
«Why does Google create Android? Is it serious or is it just a hobby? (Often, for companies like Google it is common to work in entertainment products, which end up being real projects if received well).
Vic's reply was empty:
«IPhone is really good. By the way things go, Apple will have autonomy on mobile devices connected to the Internet. This means that they will be the gatekeeper of everything, including announcements: saying who can and cannot or will not charge prices. This is a potential threat to Google. Android doesn't have to be successful to win, just get enough market for diversity and competition.

The rest of the war is history, and even though Apple continues to accumulate huge profits, Android is still so widespread that it has offered a prominent position, and since the time Tim did its research on Google and today the Company has doubled its value.
Android's ruling has admitted that, as they fear that Apple might enforce its rules in the mobile market, limited to Google Mobile Services, until even a company like Huawei runs out of stock, its position in the mobile market may drop to zero.
