The Day Before promises to be a mixture of The Last of Us, The Division and DayZ, looks outrageously good in previous (gameplay) trailers and should actually be released at the end of June. However, this dream is shattered. Because as the developers of Fntastic announce, The Day Before should only appear in 2023.
This is due to an engine change. Because The Day Before was originally created in the Unreal Engine 4, but is now being heaved into the Unreal Engine 5. This news is sure to cause some controversy among fans, but The Day Before is currently #1 on Steam players’ wish lists.

When is the new release? The Day Before will now be released on March 1, 2023. At least that’s what developer Fntastic promises, after the survival shooter was originally supposed to be released on June 21, 2022. This means that the title is delayed by almost a year.
What’s behind the shift? Studio Fntastic issued a statement via IGN announced that The Day Before is moving from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. This conversion would mean that the survival shooter would no longer appear this year. With this announcement, the release falls on March 1, 2023.
What kind of game will The Day Before be anyway? The Day Before is supposed to be an open-world MMO, reminiscent of a mixture of The Last of Us, The Division and DayZ remembered. Players explore a post-apocalyptic America, looting weapons, food and resources, and defending themselves against zombies and other players.
The expectations of The Day Before are high, previous gameplay trailers promise immersive gameplay with attractive graphics. The genre mix is well received, so that The Day Before has become the current one #1 Most Wanted Game on Steam has blossomed.
But can The Day Before ever be as good as the trailer and Fntastic promise us?
