Today I bring you a detailed analysis of Godfall Ultimate Edition for Xbox Series X|S, the “best” version of the game with all its updates and fixes to date, a compilation of expansions and practically everything you can imagine. Luckily (or unfortunately) I was able to play it when it came out about 2 years ago, my experience was brief, but if you add everything I know about the game from articles and reviews, I consider that I have sufficient ability to tell you about the changes the game has undergone; in which it improves and in which it does not improve. Looter-slasher is how Counterplay Games calls Godfall, and the truth is that the name fits like a glove. From the first minutes of play we will receive huge amounts of loot, a team that, especially in the first regions, we will constantly change. Personally, even if you unlock the forge after the first hour of play; virtually nothing will improve. If you do, keep in mind that in the next mission they will surely give you something almost 90% better. Here we find the first problem. If we’re going to have to change teams after each mission, what’s less than having a fast and intuitive interface, right? Well no. It’s true that over the hours you get used to it, but it’s a useless effort.

Saving distances, Godfall reminds me of Mortal Shell, not because of its gameplay -which is quite the opposite-, but because of the armor system. In both games we have different armors, which we unlock in one way or another and take their role - in the case of Godfall we are still the same person, but the voice and the external appearance change , although we cannot see ourselves as such, only the armor- As expected, each of them will bring us some advantages and will specialize in a certain type of weapon, you can always choose the one you like the most, but you won't get the most out of it. However, although the system is similar, in Godfall it goes completely unnoticed. We can craft armor once the materials are gathered, but these are like a helmet, they don't influence the gameplay too much. They are useless.

The world is divided into similarly themed regions, each with a number of quests and bosses to defeat. But that doesn't matter to you, the missions are somewhat repetitive and you'll want to go after the final boss. You'll kill everything in front of you, but if you're playing with the required level, it'll be quite a walk. Here, the biggest difficulty is that, since we have a standard level which we cannot modify; but in general areas we are faced with a simple title. I must admit that the fight feels good, polite and interesting, going to execute combos without stopping, killing enemies in the blink of an eye is quite fun. I would dare to say, with absolute certainty, that it is the best of the whole game.

Opposite is its story, very simple to understand, a poor and very boring plot. Unlike games like Destiny 2 or Warframe, here we do not have that incentive, the argument that does not incite combat also makes us leave the game and not even touch it with a stick. And forgive me for being so expressive, but it's a reality. Between that and the inability to skip empty dialogue, the small variety of NPCs—three and more—make the game a typical buy-to-fill deal on vacation.

Before we finish with its gameplay, let me tell you that we have a lot more post-game content, and hundreds of cosmetics have been added for our weapons and characters, but again, many are poorly crafted and are a change simple and outdated color. Or at least more than 70% of the time.


If you're looking to exclusively complete the main campaign of Godfall Ultimate Edition, it will take a few 4/6 p.m.. In my case, I had just enough fun to keep going and not get stuck. Now, if you're a complete gamer looking for 100%, you could leave around 60 hours of gameplay.

As always, everything will depend on whether you play alone or accompanied, if you are more or less talented, but in general ranges, these hours should not be exceeded.


My final conclusion after the analysis is… Does it sell smoke? If you remember at the beginning, he criticized the excessive publicity and the floripondios that the study, the publisher or whoever was in charge of marketing gave him. It makes sense that you were trying to sell a product, but if advertising and claiming hadn't exploded; the game would have been better received by gamers. Well, other than all that, it's not a bad game deep down, but there are some basic flaws in the design that aren't easy to fix, and it looks like they will be forever.

If you like loot games in general and the ability to try your hand with bosses big and small, play this. Besides, his fight is satisfying and leaves no one indifferent. Yes, they could change the theme of Valorian armor to be more "useful"; But you can't ask for much either.

I have to admit I was very critical -more than usual- with Godfall Ultimate Edition, but it's frustrating how I've had enough time to tweak, fix, upgrade, eliminate and only Miyazaki knows what else ; they just added more and more content to a game that in itself is not attractive, or at least not enough. They could have taken advantage of this new edition and its launch on Xbox and PC to add new NPCs that interact in a more organic way and… well, everything that was said before, I'm not going to repeat the same thing.
