this Roadmap for May The Lost Ark has just been released via the official blog detailing the upcoming Destroyer Advanced Subclass, Valtan Legion Raid, Deskaluda Guardian Raid, etc. later this month. While no specific dates have been given for each, the blog’s introduction hints that some challenging PvE content will land in the next few weeks.
The post said: “After monitoring closely with Smilegate RPG, we believe our player base has reached the item level required to participate (or will easily get there over the next few weeks) and have decided this is where these events come in. The right time on the west coast of Aksia.”
Destroyer Advanced Subclass
One of the major additions to the game in May is the Destroyer, a super-heavy melee fighter that joins Berserkers, Paladins, and Lancers as a fighter subclass available to all players. This class is all about swinging your giant hammer, dealing massive damage to enemies at close range, and deflecting them with great crowd control.
This is especially exciting as it’s the second proper tank added to the game after the Ginlancer, giving players another viable option if they want to soak up a lot of hits but don’t like swinging around stupid spears s Choice.
Vartan Legion Assault
Valtan is the main content, and it will stand out for those who have raised one or more characters to tier 3 heights. It’s an 8-player raid filled with devastating new mechanics if you want to grab some powerful new loot. The most valuable of these is Relic gear, a brand new gear class that can be crafted from materials you pick up from your raid and will allow you to exceed a pre-existing gear score cap.
However, you must be at least level 1415 to participate in Valtain, so if you haven’t quite done it, you still have a few weeks to complete some level 3 content and hit that mark.
Descaluda Guardian Raid
Another piece of final game content for The Lost Ark this May is Deskaluda! This snappy bird has the same gear level requirements as the Valtan-1415, and provides a steady source of relic-level accessories for those eager to elevate their characters with top stats and proper sculpting.
It might be second only to Legion Raid, thanks in large part to Valtan being the first Legion Raid we got in the Western version of Lost Ark, but it’s still a key hurdle for good players to overcome.
Challenge the Guardian Raid
Deskaluda isn’t the only update to Guardian Raids this month, as Challenge Guardian Raids will be released as tricky weekly content for those looking for more rewards to take on the challenge head-on. Each week, three Guardian Raid monsters will be open for challenges (granted to meet their item level requirements), with one Guardian being rotated every 7 days.
The subtlety of these guys is that they apply a “balance scale” effect to all players who accept them, adjusting your item level so you can’t overwhelm these enemies like regular raids. Also, you can’t use the battle studio in it, which means you’ll have to keep your head up once you’re in the arena.
Each roster can claim rewards for challenging Guardian Raids once per week, which includes more rewards than typical Guardian Raids.
New Guild Activities
Are you still in a guild full of active players? If so, then you and your friends will be able to take part in some new Clan PvE and PvP content this May.
First up is Island Siege, a PvP event where your guild faces off against another in a player-to-player confrontation. By capturing targets and eliminating other players, you earn points, which then decide the winner. Participants will then be able to earn rewards for gems, accessories, and more.
PvP is not your thing? Well, Raid Match is another avenue for guild events where you and your colleagues can take part in the Sylmael Devourer. The faster you kill, the higher your server guild ranks, so bring your A game!
Quality of life update
In addition to all of the above, there are some handy quality-of-life updates designed to improve the overall experience of playing Lost Ark. This includes:
- Before and after attack indicators
- New menu listing daily and weekly content engagement
- Improved party finder and party invitations
- Market/Auction House convenience features,
- Ability to randomly summon favorite mounts
- new hair style
- Updated loot dismantling
- General UI updates
All in all, this looks like a great update for those who take the time to get to the top of the current content. From the post itself, this appears to be a large enough segment of the player base to warrant a big drop like this, suggesting that the previous decision to focus on what all players could use to speed things up worked as intended.
It remains to be seen whether we’ll now see similar updates in the future filled with end-game challenges like Legion Raids, or switching back and forth between harcore-focused updates and more generic ones! Either way, let us know below which part of the May Update you’d like to try!
