Surprise ! A new Lord of the Rings game is announced. The second surprise (and last but not least) is that it’s a mobile game. Don’t hide your joy, let’s see.
The Lord of the Rings is not at its best in video gaming with Amazon’s discontinuation of the MMORPG. A mobile game will be announced as a consolation prize, which will be published by EA. The title is being developed by Capital Games, a studio notably behind Star Wars: The Heroes of the Galaxy.
The Lord of the Rings in your pocket
We don’t know much about the game yet, but Malachi Boyle, Vice President of Mobile RPG at Electronic Arts says:
It is with great pleasure that we are collaborating with The Saul Zaentz Company and Middle-Earth Enterprises to develop a next-generation mobile role-playing game.
Our team consists of fans of the Lord of the rings And you hobbit, who put their passion and talent at the service of an authentic experience for all players every day. The combination of an art direction faithful to the work and stylized animations contributes to the total immersion of the players in the fantastic universe of Middle-earth, where they are confronted with their favorite characters.
Beautiful promises?
According to the release, The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth should feature rich storytelling, turn-based combat, a rich collection system, and a wide cast of characters from Tolkien’s sprawling universe. Obviously, it remains a statement on paper.
The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth will enter regional beta testing this summer. No other information is known about him at this time. But the Star Wars game of the same name was well received by the press and the general public. It remains to be seen whether this also applies to this one.
