Elden Ring player will help you rescue NPCs

Elden, NPCs, player, Rescue, Ring

From Software is known for putting opaque questlines into their games, and so it is in Elden Ring. With some NPCs, just one wrong step is enough to bring them down. A Reddit user created a spoiler-free infographic so you can salvage some of them. The only question is whether you should follow them.

One of the longest quest lines is that of Sellen. However, as it turns out over time, the sorceress is also up to something. We have summarized in detail in this guide whether and how you can save the sorceress:

This is how you solve Sellen's quest line

A simple graphic will help you to save NPCs

With these spoiler-free tricks you let NPCs live: Der Reddit-User Evoxrus_XV created a graphic that hardly tells you anything about the stories of the respective NPCs and still protects you from by mistake to transport inhabitants of the intermediate lands underground.

The much more important question, however, is whether it makes sense in some cases to let certain NPCs live. If you just focus on the story, a surprising number of them are up to no good, which is why many questlines don’t really have a happy ending. Note, however, that if you don’t finish the NPCs’ quest lines, you’ll leave some important items behind.

We have summarized the most important information for you:

  • Sorcerer Sellen: You can find her in Limgrave in the tomb that is outside the great gates. Ally with her in the fight against Jerren and never tell her where the magician Lusat is. This will result in it remaining in the Academy Library.
  • Boc: Do not give him a larva tear, otherwise he will turn into a human and die. Also tells him he’s beautiful after calling himself ugly.
  • Thops: Don’t give him the key to the academy.
  • To: Once you have completed Blaidd and Ranni’s quest line, you must not tell Iji about Blaidd’s death.
  • Nepheli Loux: Pretty self-explanatory – you shouldn’t give Nepheli Selvius Poison.
  • Boggart: Never free the dungeater, otherwise he will kill the NPC first.

In the following spoiler box we explain why it is not an advantage to keep all NPCs alive and give you two examples:

Warning: The following paragraph contains spoilers

Sells: At the end of Sellen’s questline, you have the choice of helping her or killing her with Jerren’s help. Helping her is best for players playing mage builds. Everyone else, however, won’t be able to do much with their stuff.

If you are only interested in the story, it ends rather tragically with the sorceress. Because when she can finally take her place in the academy again, the power goes to her head, which is why she unites the many powerful sorcerers of the intermediate lands and then transforms into a huge floating ball with several heads. You can observe this if you let some time pass and then return to Rennalla’s former place.

Thops: Thops’ questline is relatively short and basically consists only of giving him a key to the academy. No sooner said than done: now he’s sitting lifeless at a desk in the middle of the academy, leaving you some helpful items. The story doesn’t end well, but if you want to complete it, it’s the only way to get his items.

So, as you can see, in Elden Ring you shouldn’t stubbornly try to keep every NPC alive, as some stories just weren’t designed for that.

If you make a mistake and NPCs attack you or even die, there is a way to turn back time in Elden Ring.

Revive and soothe dead and angry NPCs

How to undo sins: If you go to the Church of Vows, you should see a large turtle that you can use as a guide. But this is not the point, which is why you should rather stand by the small fountain at the end of the chapel. If you have annoyed or even killed NPCs, you can undo everything with a certain item. I’ll show you where to get this item from below.

Important: Not all NPCs can be revived using this technique. Above all, the big quest lines usually act separately and cannot be reset. It looks different if NPCs are just mad at you and attack. Then, for the most part, they should all be mollified with this form of penance.

If you are slowly fed up with the intermediate lands, you could feel something like Rémy, who wrote a column for you on exactly this topic:

Locations of sky dew

There are several Skydew items found in the Elden Ring. You can find way more than five of them in just one run. We show you the three easiest places to find the valuable item.

  • The first sky dew you can comfortably for 7,500 runes buy from the merchant in the Ruins of Ainsel.
  • The second location is just past the vendor at the entrance to the academy. But watch out for the many wolves protecting the bottle.
  • Once you’ve defeated Radhan, you can descend into the city of Nokron, located in Siofra. Complete the level until you reach the long path to the throne. On the way there, among all the blobs, is the item you’re looking for.

What about with you? Were you able to solve many quest lines or did you try to guide as many NPCs as possible safely through the intermediate lands? Tell us in the comments!
