It had already become apparent in the past few months, and now it’s official: FIFA and Electronic Arts are going their separate ways in the future. That’s why the kick will soon have a new name.
In recent months there have been increasing signs that the collaboration between FIFA and Electronic Arts could come to an end after 30 years. This is exactly what has now happened: the partnership will end next year. For this reason, the FIFA series will be launched under a new name in the future.
As the company explained in a press release, the popular football series will continue as EA Sports FC from 2023. EA will be able to develop the series more according to its own ideas without having to involve FIFA. In addition, we will continue to cooperate with more than 300 partners from all over the world of football. Overall, EA Sports FC is intended to become a new platform to develop, create and ultimately expand new gaming experiences. They want to bring even more areas of the sport to life and involve the global community.
Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, said: “Our vision for EA SPORTS FC is to create the largest and most influential soccer club in the world at the epicenter of the soccer fan scene. For almost 30 years we have been building the world’s largest soccer community – With hundreds of millions of players, thousands of partner players and hundreds of leagues, federations and teams, EA SPORTS FC will be the club for each of them and for football fans around the world.”
Official licenses should also remain a trademark at EA Sports FC. With more than 300 partners, players get access to more than 19,000 players in 700 teams, 100 stadiums and over 30 leagues around the world. The licensed content is to be expanded and innovations in the areas of women’s and grassroots football are also planned.
EA Sports FC aims to remain the only place in the video game space where you can play the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, CONMEBOL Libertadores, Premier League, Bundesliga, LaLiga, Serie A and MLS. With the exception of the French Ligue 1, all major European leagues have already been named.
The introduction of EA Sports FC should have no impact on the current football titles from EA. FIFA 23, which is set to be the largest and most extensive of its kind to date, will be released this fall. EA promises more game modes, features, teams, leagues, players and competitions than ever before in FIFA 23. More information about the following EA SPORTS FC should follow in summer 2023.
