Apple will phase out the notch and double hole on the screen of its iPhones until the arrival of the iPhone 18.
One of the analysts who knows the display market best has just revealed a lot of information about the next iPhone models. After revealing that the iPhone 14 Pro’s screen will be slightly larger, he also revealed the improvements that will come year after year to Apple’s iPhones. The notch will say its last goodbye to the height that comes with the iPhone 15And the first truly “all-screen” iPhone will be the iPhone 18.
Ross Young shared a timeline showing the Apple’s alleged roadmap with the iPhone in the coming years. As you can see, Apple will be rolling out the changes bit by bit, with the Pro models being the ones to get this news first.
Summarizing this roadmap, it would look like this:
- Year 2022: iPhone 14 with notch and iPhone 14 Pro with double hole in the screen.
- Year 2023: iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro with double hole in the screen.
- Year 2024: iPhone 16 with double hole on the screen and iPhone 16 Pro with Face ID under the screen and hole for the camera.
- Year 2025: iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro with Face ID under the screen and hole for the camera.
- Year 2026: iPhone 18 with Face ID under the screen and hole for the camera and iPhone 18 Pro with Face ID and camera under the screen.
Based on the remaining technical challenges for under-panel cameras to meet the quality requirements of the most demanding brands as well as the cost requirements of panel manufacturers, I still believe this roadmap makes sense for the iPhone. . pic.twitter.com/3ck5X3sVcL

As one can see, the ultimate goal is to have an all-screen iPhone without any screen cutouts, but for this technology to be ready, there are still many years to go. We can also see that Apple will introduce the new features little by little and first in the most expensive Pro models.
Some responded to information from Ross Young showing images of how this evolution would look on iPhone screens over the next few years. The news comes first to the iPhone Pro and just a year later to normal models.

Young’s information about screens is generally very accurate. It’s him CEO of View Supply Chain Consultants, and accurately revealed information about the screens of Apple devices in the past. As the sixth generation iPad mini would have an 8.3-inch screen and the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro would have ProMotion.
