That erste Command & Conquer returns in a way that a 2003 remake might have looked like. A talented team of modders released version 1.5 of C&C Tiberian Dawn Redux, a total conversion for Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour.
Coders use the Sage 3D engine to recreate missions, buildings and units from the groundbreaking original C&C. The latest version of the mod now also includes naval gameplay, graphical improvements and more polishing.
A first version of the mod was released in 2009. An old trailer shows what the gameplay looked like back then:

Complete game remastered
Complete missions: The campaigns of both factions, i.e. GDI and Nod, are now fully playable and also contain the cutscenes. There is also a Spec Ops campaign based on the console releases.
Graphically modernized units: The original soldiers, special units and vehicles were manually modeled in 3D. With that, C&C fans should get the full package of revamped nostalgia when they install the mod.
If a hearty and above all new Command & Conquer is at the top of your wish list, you might feel like our editor Peter Bathge:
Hi? It’s already 2022!
We finally need a new Command & Conquer
And how do I play this now?
In order to play Tiberian Dawn Redux, you must own and have Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour installed. Then follow the instructions:
- Load up the mod pack ModDB down.
- Extract the folder to the C&C: Generals Zero Hour directory on your hard drive.
- Alternatively, you can copy the game files to another location on your hard drive and unzip the mod folder there. This keeps the original game intact. Then create a shortcut to the exe file of the modded game on your desktop.
- Now you should be able to start and play the mod. Have fun!
