One of the many benefits of maintaining our passwords on the iCloud keychain is that we can ask Siri in particular and our favorite assistant will show it to us on screen. Of course some benefits are syncing across our devices, suggesting new passwords where we will first register or default in Safari and third-party applications, but let's talk about Siri.
How to access our passwords with Siri on iPhone or iPad
As with everything we do with Siri, requesting a password is very easy. We have multiple options, these are some:
- Hi Siri, what is my Apple password?
- Hi Siri, do you know the password for Amazon?
- Hi Siri, Applesfera password.
- Hi Siri, show me all my passwords.
How to see passwords on our iPhone or iPad
Let us remember that the first thing we will do is access this information unlock our iPhone or iPad, if we have never done it before or while making a request with Siri this will ask us. Once we have unlocked the device the system will automatically open the passwords section of the Settings app and we will have to prove that it is accessing the information.
If we have a device with face ID it's as easy as that look in the mirror while requesting a password Siri If our device has a Host ID we can put your finger on the reader until we see the password.
For privacy reasons, lacking a screen to display a password, Siri does not respond to these requests from HomePod.
How to see passwords on our Mac
Of course, we can use the same list of commands we just saw with the difference that, instead of opening the Settings app, Siri will unlock the likes of Safari. Since the Mac does not have (yet) a face ID you will need to enter a password to unlock access or use the touch ID.
How to add passwords
As we address this subject, let us briefly state how to save new passwords both on our iPhone, iPad or Mac. The steps are very simple:
- We say: "Hi Siri, show me all my passwords".
- On the iPhone or iPad we press the "+" button, on the Mac we press Enter.
- We write Website password, Username and Password.
- Press All right either Enter the password (on Mac).
From now on we can use Siri whenever we want to quickly access these passwords. Are you using any password manager? Which one? Tell us about it in the comments.
