Apple this afternoon released what could be the last major update to iOS 15 and other versions of its systems: iOS 15.5, iPadOS 15.5, watchOS 8.6, tvOS 15.5 and macOS Monterey 12.4. These are final and stable releases, so we recommend everyone accept the update when their devices are ready to apply it.
Improvements to Podcasts, Portfolio and Apple Studio Display webcam
The main new features of iOS 15.5 are the improvements to the Podcasts app we talked about this afternoon, as well as a change to the Wallet app (Wallet) able send money via Apple Cash from the main section. In countries where Apple Cash is available, of course.
In watchOS 8.6, there are no global news, but there are EKGs are enabled on compatible Apple Watch in Mexico. And in macOS 12.4 Monterey an update is applied that improves the quality of the webcam included in the Apple Studio Display. The HomePods are also getting a new firmware update that polishes up the rough edges and blends in with all the news from the rest of the systems.
We’re three weeks away from WWDC 2022, so there is probably no more iOS 15.6. Or if there are, whether to adapt to news and changes that may come with iOS 16 once it is presented in the opening speech. Remember: the easiest way to apply these updates is to let your devices do it automatically, even if that means waiting a few days. Otherwise, you can force the manual update from the Settings or Preferences section of each device.
