Frogwares is currently working on a new horror game with a tentative title Palianytsia Program.
While the first reveal was supposed to happen within a few months, the team decided to show some concept art ahead of time to keep you interested.
According to Frogwares, the war in Ukraine forced them to suspend their next open-world game and move the team to a different, more streamlined location. This is where the Palianytsia program comes into play.
Horror mystery games are said to be something fans of The Sinking City and Sherlock Holmes should love. While not what Frogwares originally planned to do next, it had to reevaluate everything because of the war.
“As an indie studio, we always have to balance our resources and workflow to deliver our games,” Frogwares said. “But the war created significant obstacles for us and our established processes. Continuous communication and iteration between teams was harder to maintain, so we needed a project where employees could have more autonomy.
“Roles and responsibilities must shift to fill the void left by those who signed up to fight or provide humanitarian aid. The threat that something could happen tomorrow, somewhere or someone, force us to adapt once again means we need to be more Flexible. With that in mind, we made the decision.
“Do we continue to do large projects and risk disruption, with less room for R&D and innovation, less access to highly skilled employees, and less pre-production and development of specific tools? Or can we solve this problem smarter and create A project with an easier turnaround and a narrower scope – but still ambitious, high quality, with a great storyline and mystery behind it. This way we can not only make new games, but do it while supporting those fighting at this point.
Again, it will soon be revealed that the team is looking at other ways to bring the game directly to players.
