Despite the almost complete abandonment of its first service game, PlatinumGames will continue to provide the twenty Babylon’s Fall players with new content.
The fiasco of Babylon’s fall doesn’t seem to shake Square Enix. While the game was at the bottom of the hole a few weeks ago with just one active player and only about twenty at the time of writing, it seems the Japanese publisher isn’t about to abandon the game anytime soon.
PlatinumGames doesn’t want to give up on Babylon’s Fall
Does Square Enix know when to let go? Shortly after Babylon’s Fall launched, PlatinumGames stated that it would continue to work on updates and new content. This was before its player base completely collapsed to the point where the title was completely abandoned just a few days ago. However, neither Square Enix nor the developers seem to be panicking about a disastrous launch.
In a new interview, the game directors said they want to keep improving the quality of Babylon’s Fall on PC and PlayStation consoles. And it should start with new content from Season 2.
Season 2 is where we move away from the Tower of Babylon for the first time, and that will be a big part of the core of the story. There will also be a new weapon type and I hope you will be excited by this announcement. It feels like it will bring more responsive and satisfying action-oriented gameplay. We’ll also be adding limited-time events, so it’s going to be an exciting season.

Upcoming improvements and content
This is not a surprise in and of itself as Season 2 content was almost completed last month. PlatinumGames had even started work on the next. Still, the studio only mentions upcoming content, nothing beyond that. The developers are nonetheless committed to satisfying the handful of remaining fans.
This is the first time we’ve been developing and modifying post-launch content, so we must prioritize player feedback above all else. This made us realize that Babylon’s Fall is both a service and a standalone product.
In the same interview, the developers apologize to the players and say that they “cstill more fixes and improvements on top of all the new content to be released soon “. Exactly when will this Season 2 be out? No release date yet, just a ‘very soon’. I’m not sure if it will bring the masses back, but PlatinumGames is determined not to scale back the sails.
