The laptop market is diverse and varied, but we will still find prices that are generally quite high. AMD wants an alternative. Explanations.
As stated The edgeAMD used Computex 2022 to introduce a new line of APUs called Mendocino. Either Ryzen Mobile processors engraved in 6 nm, which allow better value for money. At least that’s what AMD is pointing out.
AMD says lower prices
Specifically, the Ryzen 6000 Rembrandt range is there to equip what we might call a little crude, the top of the range. While the Mendocino range is made for entry-level and therefore laptops that can vary in price from $400 to $700. This includes both Windows computers and Chromebooks.
Also more power
The aim is also to redefine the “everyday laptop” with 10 hours of battery life. Robert Hallock, AMD’s technical marketing director, explains:
Most people are used to four, five, six hours on a $399-$699 laptop. We want at least 10 hours on these laptops.
In short, a better battery for computers under $700. That’s a great promise, especially for students who don’t necessarily have the financial means to pay (or don’t want to) pay more for their studies. This isn’t specific to video games, but we wanted to tell you about it on iGamesNews because it’s the kind of information that allows you to better understand the strategy of a big company like AMD. And we also know how expensive it can be to buy a PC.
The first PCs and Chromebooks equipped with this type of AMD APU are expected to launch in Q4 2022.
