Releasing a Warcraft III remaster initially sounded like a good idea. It wasn’t. After a long period of silence around the flop, there is now a sign of life again.
Strategy fans were really looking forward to the release of Warcraft 3 Reforged in January 2020. The result, however, was less well received and was literally shredded by the fans. A number of promises from the run-up were not kept, and many features loved by the fans were also missing.
There was a major update a few weeks after the release and it was announced in May 2020 that further improvements were to follow. However, nothing has changed in the game since the last patch in April 2021 and it was assumed that Blizzard had stopped working on Warcraft 3 Reforged.
Apparently there is still hope that Blizzard hasn’t completely given up on the strategy game, because the new Blizzard boss Mike Ybarra replied to a user’s question via Twitter that there will soon (in June) news from the Warcraft 3 team will give.
What exactly awaits us there remains to be seen.
