The developers behind Pathfinder Kingmaker announce with great fanfare that they are working on a Warhammer role-playing game simply called Rogue Trader. Explanations!
This new Warhammer game is therefore produced in collaboration with Games Workshop and will be released on PC and consoles. In it, players take on the role of a rogue trader, the descendants of an ancient corsair dynasty. The latter rule their own trading empire and explore areas of Imperial space with the blessing of the Emperor.
A Warhammer game yes, but an RPG!
There aren’t four of us going there, an RPG in the Warhammer 40,000 universe is pretty rare. The action takes place in the vastness of Koronu. This leaves the opportunity to meet many travel companions. Including a Space Marine, an Aeldari Ranger and a Battle Sister. Other characters will also be available.
Oleg Shpilchevsky, Director of Owlcat Games explains:
We are very excited to start a new chapter in the history of Owlcat Games. Working on such a remarkable universe as Warhammer 40,000 is a great honor but also a responsibility and challenge for our team. The grim darkness of the 41st Millennium is a harsh place of evil, sacrifice, threats and myriad challenges. This universe fits perfectly into an RPG that offers the player great freedom of choice.
We strive to bring everything to the game that fans of the cRPG genre love and expect: crucial decisions, non-linear stories, a strong and diverse cast of companions, and addictive and complex game systems to master.
Note that the developers have just set up an interesting system to “participate in development”. That means you can support the game by purchasing one of the Founder’s Packs and thus have access to the alpha and beta versions of the game.are available on the Owlcat Games website.
