Tweetdeck for Mac will stop working. Twitter abandons its development in favor of the web version

In the end, Twitter did. TweetDeck, the service’s official alternate client and one of the best options for managing multiple service accounts at a professional level, will cease to exist on macOS. From July 1, there will be only one official client on the platform: Twitter for Mac.

Native TweetDeck experience leaves macOS

Not a complete disappearance of TweetDeck – the service as such will continue to exist in web format. Twitter has decided to focus on this format and not on native apps, seeking to unify experiences. In fact, there will be improvements to the app soon if we read the promises made by the service.

The move has generated some controversy, there are not a few users who have complained about the decision claiming that TweetDeck for Mac is still a capable client that works just fine. But Arguments of Twitter with which they prefer “focus on bringing new features to TweetDeck” which could not run on macOS (or would require too many resources to expand for what is perhaps a relatively small group of users).

Thus, the only way to use Twitter natively from July will be Twitter for Mac, which we also complain about because the pace of its evolution is not the best we can say. We can also try alternatives like Tweetbot or Twitterrific, although the user experience differs from official clients and involves a relearning curve. Also keep in mind that using alternate clients incurs additional payments.

Twitter engineers are unhappy. Some Apple employees are already offering to come and work with them

At the moment, the simplest unified experience comes down to using the web on computers and the official client on mobile devices. Twitter is going through a very turbulent stage with Elon Musk’s attempted buyout, so for now I wouldn’t trust its long-term plan too much. Much depends on the decisions a potential new CEO can make when everything is more entrenched.
