There’s been no shortage of rumors about Bloober Team lately, but we’re not talking about Silent Hill right now. In a recent tweet from the team, via the LayersOfFear2 account, some teaser images of the new game have been shared.
Layers of Fear was originally released in 2016, and its sequel, Layers of Fear 2, launched in 2019. Bloober Team then revealed in October 2021 that a brand new Layers of Fear project was in the works, inviting players to return to the horrific mind to become the tortured artist once again.
As part of the revelations, Bloober Team shared a short film made in Unreal Engine 5; layers of fear have never been more terrifying.
There’s no word on when this latest project will launch other than in 2022, and the end of the year is just around the corner, meaning a launch could be imminent.
The latest trailer comes in the form of some new artwork, which certainly shares a lot of similarities with the original Layers of Fear game’s artwork. The title reads “Dive into the surface and uncover the source of your fears,” which hints that this is sure to become another psychologically horrifying nightmare.
In the original game, players will take on the role of a painter who is desperately trying to make their best work, only to damage everything in their lives. Meanwhile, the 2019 sequel has instead opted to follow a Hollywood star to make a movie.
Given the October trailer and this artistic trailer, it seems that the latest Layers of Fear series will once again bring players back to the artist’s mind. I know I’m excited because I love Layers of Fear and can happily leave Layers of Fear 2 behind; what do you think?
