SEGA has released an animated prologue to Sonic Frontiers and there are more gameplay details.
SEGA held a special preview of Sonic Frontiers for viewers at the end of the Sonic Central presentation.
For example, an animated prologue featuring Knuckles was shown, recounting events that took place before the game. The full prologue will be shown at a later date.
IGN also released a hands-on gameplay video for Sonic Frontiers. It features various mechanics in which Sonic dashes on platforms and rails while collecting golden rings.
According to the video, the game deliberately adopts a dark tone, after all, Sonic is stuck on an unknown island full of secrets that still need to be uncovered. The sound is also underlined by the appropriate music.
As for the boss battles in the open world, IGN says they’re reminiscent of Shadow of the Colossus battles.
We have included both videos for you below.
Recently, fans have been asking the developer to postpone Sonic Frontiers in order to make further improvements to it.
Sonic Frontiers is scheduled for release this holiday season on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4|5, Nintendo Switch and PC platforms.
