Remake of The Last of Us for PS5 and PC, as well as an online multiplayer title in development

During the presentation of the Summer Game Fest with Geoff Keighley, Neil Druckmann -of Naughty Dog- spoke about the HBO series and officially confirmed that The Last of Us has been rebuilt from scratch for PS5 and also PC. The latter is not surprising considering that Sony games like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn y Spider-Manalso count (and they will count) with presence on PC.

Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, who voice Joel and Ellie in the games, will star in the live-action series with cameos alongside Pedro Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsey (Ellie).

When does the ‘remake’ of The Last of Us a PS5?

The ‘remake’ of The Last of Us o The Last of Us Part I for PS5 comes out next September 2, 2022. There is no announced date for PC.

Two editions of the game will be available: Standard ($60 USD) and Firefly ($100 USD). Although the difference between both editions has not been revealed, both will include the DLC Left Behinda prequel that follows Ellie and her friend on a journey of self-discovery and loss.

The online multiplayer of The Last of Us

Another of Naughty Dog’s announcements has to do with the next game in the universe The Last of Us. Originally planned as a multiplayer component for The Last of Us: Part II y subsequently cutthis will be single player online multiplayer for next year.

The game has been in development for two years and includes new characters, several of them customizable due to its competitive online nature. In the style of the first multiplayer on PS3, players will join factions and fight for survival between barracks of violent humans and infected.

An inspiration in San Francisco can be seen in the first concept art image revealed. Whether the ‘online’ title will visit other cities in the United States – or the world – remains to be defined. We must wait until 2023 to know more details.
