Preview of ProjXloud limited iOS TestFlight Today

iOS, Limited, Preview, ProjXloud, TestFlight, Today

Since we launched a preview of Project xCloud last year, we continue to request iOS support fields (I've seen your tweets). We've been testing the iOS client internally, and today, we're taking the next step by making Project xCloud preview available to iOS users through TestFlight.

In keeping with App Store policies, the preview experience on iOS can look and feel different from those you've been exploring on Android. Key differences and things to know:

  • The iOS TestFlight preview is only available in the US, UK, and Canada at this time.
  • Unlike the Xbox Game streaming app (preview) on Android, this iOS TestFlight preview is for Project xCloud only and does not include the Xbox Console Streaming (Preview) at this time.
  • Due to the App Store policy, the iOS TestFlight preview will begin with one game, "Halo: The Master Chief Collection."
  • As usual with the iOS TestFlight build, we start with a limited preview audience. 10,000 inspectors will be called, but we expect that what you need will exceed our capacity and we cannot accommodate all applicants. We will distribute invitations to participate in the future.
  • Because of how iOS TestFlight works, those who are first accepted into the TestFlight exam may not participate in the broader preview period. As noted earlier, there are limited spaces available, so for testing purposes we may need to rotate to subscribers to better utilize existing test audiences. This also means that even if you miss the first assignment, you can get an invitation to participate later on the preview!

To participate in the first project of ProjXloud limited Test Testlight, here are the technical requirements:

  • A Microsoft account (MSA) compatible with your Xbox gamertag.
  • IPhone or iPad running iOS 13.0 or higher and also Bluetooth version 4.0.
  • Bluetooth Xbox One wireless controller. Please refer to this support article if you are not sure that your Xbox One controller supports Bluetooth.
  • Access to a Wi-Fi connection or mobile data that supports 10Mbps-down bandwidth, such as streaming video. If you are using Wi-Fi, we recommend using 5Ghz connectivity.
  • Optional but recommended: third-party controllers for mobile operators, available at 11th Street and other retailers.

Here's how to register to participate in Proxlight's limited ProClight display:

For those iOS users already registered in the first Android display.

  1. Open Project xCloud registration link
  2. Update your Project xCloud (Preview) subscriptions and prove you're an iOS user with the "Mobile Device Make" drop-down menu
    1. By updating your registration on iOS you are requesting access to the Project xCloud TestFlight interface. This does not affect your Android registration. You can still play on your Android devices
  3. If there is still space for testers, you will receive an email from TestFlight for the Xbox Game stream (Preview)
    1. Open this email from your iOS device, containing a TestFlight download link to your iOS device
  4. Follow the TestFlight installation steps
  5. From the TestFlight app, install the Xbox Game Streaming app (Preview)
  6. Sign in to the Xbox Game Stream app (Preview) with your MSA
  7. Have fun and give feedback!

For those iOS users no it is already registered for Android preview.

  1. Open Project xCloud registration link
  2. Sign up for Project xCloud (Preview) and show that you're an iOS user with the "Mobile Phone Make" drop-down menu
    1. By selecting iOS you are requesting access to the Project xCloud TestFlight interface.

Our goal is to provide the opportunity to test Project xCloud previews with TestFlight, use your feedback to improve technology, and work with Apple to deliver a full view to most iOS customers. Come on in, play and tell us about your experience!
