Why transmog could be coming soon

Why many players miss transmog

Clothing plays a big role in Cyberpunk 2077. Countless clothes come with different values, which are very important, especially on the higher levels of difficulty. Because without sufficient armor or certain buffs, you will quickly lose out in the game’s countless confrontations.

Unfortunately, in Cyberpunk 2077 it is currently not possible to change the appearance of your most valuable and powerful items of clothing. That means you can’t dress V up however you want unless you want to sacrifice playfulness. The result is often fashionable crimes for which V should actually be court-martialled.

Another problem here is that players in Cyberpunk 2077 are constantly finding new and better loot that replaces previous clothes. So once you’ve finally found an outfit that you like and that has good stats at the same time, it will quickly be replaced by your new loot.

For this reason, numerous players – and, according to our surveys, GameStar readers too – want a transmog system for Cyberpunk 2077. This way they can customize V’s appearance as they wish without making any compromises in terms of play.

What exactly does Patch 1.5 promise?

Could Cyberpunk 2077 get transmog? At least that is what the discovery of the Reddit user suggests DJ_Kovrik to hope. He draws attention to the fact that there is a command in the game’s files that allows you to use equipment invisible can be done – it’s specifically about clothing for the head and face.

Interestingly, in the game files, this command is called Transmog designated. Of course, this isn’t exactly the feature players were hoping for in Cyberpunk 2077, but it’s at least a step in that direction. This is where the foundation for a proper transmog system could have been laid.

The command is basically switched off, but can be switched off using the console command Game.EnableTransmog() activate. DJ_Kovrik also references his own modwith which the command can be applied to all clothing slots.

We want to see Transmog too! By the way, a transmog system is also a very hot favorite among our wishes for Cyberpunk 2077 in 2022:

What does that mean now exactly?

It is quite possible that the extensive patch 1.5 should have brought a transmog system for Cyberpunk 2077. Maybe the developers just couldn’t finalize this feature, which is why the remnants of the files can still be found in the game’s code.

At least we can hope that upcoming updates like patch 1.5.1 or patch 1.6 deliver a proper transmog system. We’ve asked CD Projekt Red about the chances of that happening and we’ll let you know as soon as we get an answer.

Patch 1.5 already brought numerous innovations and changes that many fans had wanted for Cyberpunk 2077. Such as the fact that the appearance can also be easily adjusted during the game.
