Battlefield 2042 got off to a disastrous start. Unfortunately, the patches from the recent past could hardly help the ambitious shooter out of its misery, which is why the number of players has meanwhile reached a low point. According to new insider statements, the developer DICE has accepted this fate and is only working with a few developers on the promised new content.
We like the new season, even if it’s a bit lacking in content. Christian has already gone into battle for you and tells you everything you need to know in the following article:
Battlefield 2042
Season 1 – All important innovations finally played
Most of the developers should already be working on the next title
Noted industry insider Jeff Grubb has on the latest installment of his show Grubbsnax made some juicy claims about the development of upcoming Battlefield 2042 content:
The game consists basically only of an emergency crew. It’s bare bones now and these people are currently working on the promised additional seasons the game will need to meet the requirements of the high end version sold.
Small team for promised content: EA and DICE should mainly be busy producing the promised four seasons in the cheapest way, since the majority of the team is already working on the successor.
The emergency crew is working to pump the stuff out as quickly and as cheaply as possible. They do this to get everyone to the new Battlefield as quickly as possible. The actual core team of Battlefield developers is already working on it.
EA denies the rumours
According to EA, the leaks are not true: In the meantime EA has become one of the allegations made and denied the rumors surrounding the development of further content and confirmed that they continue to work enthusiastically on the shooter.
That is not true. There is a large team across all studios focused on continuing to develop and improve the Battlefield 2042 experience for our players, and at the heart of that is our team at DICE. We’re committed to the future of Battlefield 2042, and based on what we’ve heard from our players, our priorities for the game were outlined in our most recent development update […].
How is Battlefield 2042 otherwise?
Otherwise, the future of the shooter does not look rosy. Only recently the number of players reached a new negative record of less than 1000 players at the same time (we reported). The number of players in Breakthrough mode has been reduced from 128 to 64. Updates and patches take an agonizingly long time. After all, there is also a small glimmer of hope with the first season, at least if you take the sheer mass of changes in the patch notes as a benchmark.
