Meta (formerly Facebook) has updated the maximum number of WhatsApp group members. So far you could fill a WhatsApp group with a maximum of 256 members, but this number has now doubled. Now you can lead groups with up to 512 members, which means that for many people the entire contact list fits into a WhatsApp group.

You can easily check whether your smartphone has already received the update. To do this, open WhatsApp and try to create a new group. Once you’ve selected a member, you’ll see the maximum group size above. If it says 1/512 you have already received the update. Otherwise you have to wait a little longer.
