Typing can be very comfortable, but the truth is that for large amounts of text, such as works, reports and other such documents, it can become tiring. Luckily we have a great resource so you never have to type again. A very simple.
A most useful resource for all kinds of texts
Just like on the iPhone, where we can dictate messages and texts, Macs have long included a dictation function that allows us to convert any sentence we say out loud to text at the computer. A function that, by the way, is much better in macOS Ventura where, in addition to this text, we can dictate punctuation marks, emojis and interact with the text in a much more natural way.
Activating this feature is very simple. In the new Macs we will find a button with a microphone icon on the F5 key. In this case, just press it once to start the dictation and press it again to end it. In older Macs we have to go to System Preferences > Dictation and in Keyboard shortcut Choose Press the control key twice.
Thus, if we press the control key twice or use the dedicated key of the new keyboards, we can start speaking and we will see how what we say is written on the screen. It is true that we may need to make some corrections laterespecially in dots, but it’s still a much faster system than typing.
As the saying goes: “show a button”. In this article, I didn’t have to touch a single key to produce the text, the dictation function took care of everything for me. A function that we can use in different contexts to significantly speed up writing.
