‘Diablo Immortal’ made $24 million in first two weeks

Despite some controversy over the presence of microtransactions in the game, diablo immortal Seems like a financial blow to Activision Blizzard.

Since its June 2 release on mobile, the game has been downloaded nearly 8.5 million times, and players have spent $24 million in in-game transactions, according to AppMagic data obtained by Pocket Gamer (thanks GI.biz).

Apple’s App Store and Android revenue were split nearly equally, at $13 million and $11.3 million, respectively.

By region, Japan accounted for 8% of total spending, Germany 6%, Canada 3%, the United States (43%) and South Korea (23%) for the bulk of spending. Due to the game’s use of loot boxes, the game is currently not available in Belgium or the Netherlands.

While microtransactions are a pain point for many gamers, another annoying problem is PC gamers. It doesn’t seem to be a good PC game, but something Blizzard is known for, it looks and plays like a “mobile port” and is considered by some to be a low effort for Blizzard – especially in KBM control aspect. Hopefully this will be something the studio will tweak in future patches.
