Obsidian Entertainment has announced that after two years of game previews and early access, its backyard survival adventure game ground Released in September.
Since its launch two years ago through the Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access, more than 10 million players have ventured into the backyard and provided feedback that helped develop the game.
Grounded is a cooperative survival game in which four kids shrink in size and they must restore their normal size by crafting and building defenses to protect their backyard from bugs. You can also play solo.
You’ll need to gather resources, craft and build a base using everyday items in your yard to fend off swarms of bugs while doing your best to live with giant insects. You can craft armor sets, create custom weapons to suit your playstyle, and more.
Some of the insects you’ll encounter include mosquitoes, diving bell spiders, and bosses like broodmothers.
Upon launch, the game will feature all 12 updates released during development, including unlocking the mysteries behind Grounded and your ability to shrink. During the event, you’ll find out how you got into the yard and get in touch with the mad scientist behind the whole thing.
Version 1.0 will also open up the upper house. This new section includes more backyards to explore, as well as new armor and weapon recipes, some secrets, and a new mantis boss.
Grounded will be available to PC via Steam and Windows as well as Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S for $39.99.
It’s also included with an Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass subscription. However, if you’re playing on PC, you can still take advantage of the game’s preview/early access prices on Steam and the Windows Store, while still listed for $29.99 and saving yourself $10.
