Wondering what’s going on beyond the Wall after Game of Thrones Season 8? No? Well, (most likely) you’ll get the answer to that soon though. Because HBO is probably working on one new TV series, which follows directly on from the finale and Kit Harington will take center stage in the role of Jon Snow. We will provide you with all the information known so far.

Incidentally, this would be the ninth spin-off of Game of Thrones that HBO is currently developing. In the following overview you can find out what else awaits you in the next few years besides House of the Dragon:

Season 9 or the same Game of Thrones 2?

Where does the information come from? HBO has not officially confirmed that a new GoT series is coming. The info comes from the usually extremely reliable and trustworthy US portal TheHollywoodReporter. Accordingly, the project is currently in a fairly early development phase – as well Deadline approved.

What is it about? The new TV series should follow directly after the end of Game of Thrones and thus season 8. According to THR, Kit Harington plays Jon Snow, who, after the end of the War for the Iron Throne, moved to the world beyond the Wall with the wildlings.

There are currently no concrete details about the story and should the spin-off actually come about as an unofficial ninth season, there would be room for more returnees. For example Tormund Riesentod (Kristofer Hivju) or Brienne von Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) or the Stark sisters Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya (Maisie Williams) or Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage).

It also remains unclear at the moment who could be responsible behind the scenes as showrunner and director. At least it is certain that the project will not be an animated series, but a real film adaptation.

is this really coming When the series start should be, when the start of shooting is planned and whether the project will come about at all is still questionable at the moment. HBO has already worked on several spin-offs in the past, only to later saw them off. One of the most prominent examples: the $30 million prequel Bloodmoon starring Naomi Watts, for which a pilot episode was even filmed.

What’s next? If the Jon Snow series actually becomes reality, it will probably be a few years away anyway. But new adventures in Westeros will continue on August 22, 2022: On this date, House of the Dragon, the first prequel that plays 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, will start. You can watch the trailer as follows – all information about the GoT prequel can be found here.
