Apple, Cloud, features, free, paid, storage

Last year, Apple has announced its new service called iCloud+ and which users can enjoy for a long time. In fact, more than completely new, it is an extension of an existing one. Built on the foundation of iCloud, iCloud+ provides a number of additional features for free which do not affect the price of the original service. Let’s see what it consists of.

iCloud+ adds three new features

We already know that we can create an iCloud account from any device. Traditionally, we’ve used the Apple cloud for such common things as saving our photos to iCloud, documents to iCloud Drive, and notes. Sync across all devices and allowing to work in several of them. It also saves our health data, Game Center, messages and saves, among other things.

iCloud is now renamed iCloud+ and adds three new features for users who are subscribed to one of their plans. The first of them is called Private Relay or Private Relay, it is a kind of Apple VPN for Safari. With it, we ensure that all the traffic we send from our device is encrypted.

private relay

At the same time, it uses two independent internet relays so that no one can track our location, IP address and network activity. With him, our activity is anonymized (against public Wi-Fi networks, Internet service providers and other network users) and the creation of a profile by advertisers and websites is avoided. This feature is still in beta, but early results from Private Relay indicate that browsing is sometimes slower and sometimes faster than normal.

The second additional feature of iCloud+ en Hide my email. With it, we can create random email addresses to sign up for new sites, web services, or newsletters. When an email arrives at this address, it will automatically be forwarded to your real address. And if you no longer wish to receive these emails, simply delete the random account from the settings to stop this communication.

Private Relay and Hide my email are features that can be disabled from settings if you are not interested

These two features are part of the latest installment in the evolution of Apple’s privacy measures. The third and final function does not belong to this area, but it does provide some value of interest. It is extended support for HomeKit-enabled surveillance cameras. There’s now the option to have an unlimited number of them connected to HomeKit and recording, although this depends on our monthly iCloud+ plan.
