Until now we hadn’t seen any of the Orcs in the promotional photos of The Lord of the Rings series. At least until now! We can discover that.
At the moment, the Lord of the Rings fan community is a bit divided on the issue of the Amazon series. Some are hopeful, while others are already accusing the director/production of spitt ing openly in Tolkien’s face. Whatever one thinks, at no less than $465 million, that’s a pretty massive budget allotted. For this price we can at least expect nice costumes.
The orcs reveal themselves
Now if only we had seen men, elves and dwarves for this Amazon series Lord of the rings , we can finally discover the orcs, the great unknown of the moment. That is IGN which reveals the whole thing via 3 new photos.
The least we can say is that the rendering is rather qualitative. And the big highlight is of course the return of make-up and prosthetics, which brings a lot more than just 3D. On the costume side, it also seems consistent with Tolkien’s universe. It remains to be seen whether Amazon will continue this momentum for all of its Lord of the Rings work.
An origin well before the Lord of the Rings
For the record, according to Tolkien in The Silmarillion, orcs were once elves who were captured by Morgoth, who tortured them, mutilated them, and made them his servants.
However, it is stated in Eressa that all Quendi that fell into Melkor’s hands before the dissolution of Utumno were thrown into prison, that they were corrupted and forced into slavery after long and learned tortures, and so it is that Melkor created the abominable Orc people in their jealous hatred of the Elves, whose bitter enemies they were thens.
The Lord of the Rings series is scheduled for release on September 2, 2022.
