Today we are discussing the upcoming launch of Newfound courage on Xbox. This is a complete remake with new graphics, music, story content and mechanics. This version of the game will immerse you in the story of Alex and Jake like never before.
As we set off Newfound courage on Xbox, we decided to check out the game in its current form. The feedback we’ve received is great; People love music, history and art. But our players want more. We knew we could do even better, so our game was remade for the Xbox release.
We’ve always felt that visual art is a weak point in the game. It was too static and general. Approximately 100% of environmental art has been upgraded. We have revised all characters and partially completely redesigned them. There are improved dynamic light, wind and particle effects. The art feels more alive and animated.
We thought about the story later. That was definitely one of the strongest aspects of the game, but again, we knew we could do better. New mechanics have been added, mainly combat mechanics. We created a simple, streamlined combat and progression system to help us grow our fantasy story—and it worked. all about Newfound courage is grander, the stakes are higher, and fighting the “big bad guys” to the death is more satisfying.
The next paragraph contains spoilers, so please skip it if you haven’t played the game yet. At the end of Newfound courage, Alex doesn’t get his happy ending; his love is unrequited. Well, that hasn’t changed. However, we still felt that Alex deserved to find love. This was the perfect opportunity to introduce a new DLC, Return to Otherwhere.
Alex returns home and (literally) faces his demons as he fights to uncover the truth about his hometown. A fresh cast of unique characters, otherworldly landscapes and a deep dive into Alex’s past give the entire game a new edge. This also gave us the opportunity to make more music, and the remake contains about six new tracks, including a spooky carnival track.
We can’t wait to see what you think of the builds you create and which friend you ultimately choose. Newfound courage officially launches on June 24th on Xbox.
