when it came out Cyberpunk 2077 made headlines across video game media. The CD Projekt Red title was actually unplayable on PS4 and Xbox One until it was removed from the PlayStation Store. The Polish developer quickly apologized and pointed out major quality control flaws. A choice of words that takes on a very special meaning today when an investigation seems to point the finger at Quantic Lab.
Lies from the provider?
To ensure the quality of its game, CD Projekt Red used the services of an outside company. Quantic Lab is this and claims to be an expert in quality assurance. However, a message now appears on the Internet that overwhelms the provider.
Broadcast from the Upper Echelon Gamers YouTube channel and discovered by forbesthis 72-page document points out all the malfunctions that can partially explain the state in which came out Cyberpunk 2077. Among the many allegations, the following should be mentioned in particular:
- Quantic Lab lied about the size of the testing team Cyberpunk 2077 to keep the contract with CDPR.
- Quantic Lab lied about tester profiles and introduced CDPR to experienced testers when they were actually juniors with barely 6 months experience.
- Quantic Lab has set daily error rates that must be reported to CDPR, making it difficult for developers to identify and prioritize actions.
Neither Quantic Lab nor CDPR initially wanted to respond to these allegations. The report presented seems particularly detailed and would partly explain the incredible shortcomings Cyberpunk 2077.
