Sucker Punch ends Infamous and Sly Cooper reboot rumors

Sucker Punch has debunked rumors that the studio was working on reboots for the Infamous and Sly Cooper franchises on Friday. The studio also known for creating Spirit of Tsushima, said in a blog post that it currently has “no plans” to revisit either franchise.

The company cited the need to devote its teams to larger and more complex projects that require the studio’s “full attention.” “As we focus on our current project, we have no current plans to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper, nor are any other studios currently working on projects related to these franchises,” the post reads.

The clarification comes after rumors that both franchises could be making a comeback. In May and March, an outlet reported rumors of a new infamous game following tweets from an “industry insider” AccountNGT, who claimed that the announcement of a new title was coming this year. Andrew Goldfarb, communications manager at Sucker Punch, tweeted that he hoped that the clarification would “put some misleading rumors to bed”.

While the studio hasn’t announced anything new, the post noted that Sucker Punch will be doing additional work to keep some of its older games alive:

We know that many people are still playing these games today, so we will be doing maintenance on inFAMOUS 2 UGC servers will soon be moving them to a new home that will keep them running a little longer. We will have to phase these out at some point, but want to keep them running for as long as possible for players who are still active.

We are also working on releasing Cole’s Legacy DLC inFAMOUS second son (previously only available as part of the Collector’s Edition) on PlayStation Store in all territories for those who missed it.
