E3 organizer ESA has confirmed that some publishers haven't missed the show this year.
The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced this week ten participating publishers E3 2020, And some other details about the version of this year's show.
Xbox, Nintendo, Ubisoft, Bethesda, Sega, Capcom, Square Enix, Take-Two, Bandai Namco America and Warner Bros. will all be there.
As the recent leaks indicate, this year's exhibition will be different — or as ESA puts it: "reimagined."
ESA is planning stage experiences and "experience zones" for participants and "extended" live coverage for those at home. Although Geoff Keighley, the producer of the E3 stadium, will not return this year, ESA said that despite this, ESA will still provide a stage experience that sounds very similar to the stadium, and the experience will also be broadcast live.
The first day of E3 2020, June 9, will be limited to industry professionals and those with the $ 995 premium badge. The next two days will be open to all other badge holders.
Although 2020 is the year of the game console release, the future of E3 is not more dangerous. Many large companies will not attend this year's show. Sony has skipped it for the second consecutive year. EA has been absent for many years and instead chose to host its own E3 adjacent event, although the company has not announced the 2020 version of the event.
Activision's name does not appear on the list, which most likely means that publishers will not be back this year.
A major data breach last year exposed the personally identifiable information of thousands of media professionals and journalists, while another leak this week revealed the list of participating publishers in advance. As the show's future is uncertain, both have further exacerbated the negative sentiment towards the show.
Needless to say, as more publishers are satisfied with the idea of hosting their own events and communicating directly with consumers, E3 has organically reduced its popularity in the past few years.
E3 2020 will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 9-11.
