"Sonic the Hedgehog" has become one of the most successful video game movies ever, with an estimated domestic box office of $ 57 million.
In contrast, Detective Pikachu last year reached $ 54.3 million during the premiere weekend.
According to the Hollywood Report, Sonic's total revenue was three days and totaled $ 57 million. Film industry publications are currently estimated at $ 68 million. Similarly, its opening price on Friday's first day was $ 21 million, surpassing Detective Pikachu's figure of $ 20.5 million on the first day of May 2019.
This is Paramount's best opening weekend since the launch of Mission Impossible: Impossible in the summer of 2018. The "Sonic" movie was announced under Sony Pictures in 2014, and then transferred to Paramount in 2017 after Sony exited.
Given how Sonic's original trailer made the internet so shocking, that's impressive. Strong protests have led to character makeovers, delaying the film's first release date.
Tyson Hesse, the animation director of Sonic Mania's cutscenes and director of the Sonic Mania Adventures animation series, completed the redesign of Sonic.
Las, despite Sonic the Hedgehog's success at the box office, critics have mixed reviews. As of press time, the film is currently rated 46.
